About Mila @ Moraine

Moraine Lake is nestled in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The iconic blue-green colour of this high mountain lake is caused by light reflecting off the rock flour particles in the frigid water. Taking a short trip up the rockpile trail to the top affords spectacular views of the lake and the towering peaks above. Our spirited and adventurous friend Mila ventured here on a special birthday determined to take in the stunning view! It is a place one wants to linger, but the alpine winds often cause retreat. We stood in this very spot and felt the same exhilaration the first time we visited together. This painting is in honour of our life-long friendship and our shared appreciation for the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains.
