About The Cabin

Along the banks of a frozen mountain, river sits a settler-style cabin. Dust has settled on its fixtures as the long winter has seen no visitors. The hot stove lies dormant and the winter sun is so fleeting that the inside temperature has dropped to a bone-chilling level. It takes over an hour to shovel a path from the road to the door. The snow is so high that one might believe it will never melt. This will be our refuge. We chop some wood and get the fire started, heat starts to seep into the room. We take the sled to the pump to get water, step by step we bring the cabin back to life. This painting symbolizes the beauty of winter and its solitude. The shadows cast by the winter sun and the smoke slowly wafting from the chimney represent the breath of life.
