About View over D'arcy Ranch *IN Studio

Depending on the time of day and weather conditions, the view of the Foothills and Rocky Mountains from D'Arcy Ranch is stunning. It is one of the reasons we fell in love with the Okotoks area so many years ago. Arriving in town from the north makes us feel as though we have truly arrived home and adventure is close at hand. This is where the country begins. When the mountains are lit up, the scene never fails to inspire. When the mountains are hidden we feel their presence as they quietly stand by. We are sure we are not the only ones who feel the same about this view.   This particular scene was captured on a somewhat overcast day. The snow was heavy in the air as the clouds began to gather. A bloom of grey stratus clouds compressed a late day sky illuminating the mountains and fields below. A wondrous lenticular cloud formation hovered like a flying saucer just below the ominous band. We were compelled to pull over to capture the scene. Our opportunities to revel in this quintessential Okotoks mountain view are fleeting, so we painted the image from this day in an effort to immortalize a view that will soon be obscured.
