One of the most scenic drives west of Canmore is the Smith-Dorian Trail, which runs alongside Spray Lakes. The paved road ends and a narrow gravel road begins to climb sharply up from the townsite. The east end of the Rundle Range stands guard as you traverse higher and higher. This rockface seems to dominate the sky the closer you get to it. Quarry Lake is situated directly below. It is a place where locals go to enjoy an easy stroll. We stopped here on a very windy, blue-sky day to snap a picture and enjoyed a visit from a young pup who was convinced we were his owners!
